Anyone who has travelled in lands other than that of their own cultural environment, can readily see how quaint, how amusing, and often how absurd are the social customs of others.

Are we so different?

Ladies paint their faces with red, green, black, and blue pencils, spray on hair-goo to achieve a beehive effect, wear shoes with pointed toes bearing no relationship to the formation of the feet, and totter around on heels the thickness of a pencil. In the evening, society decrees that the knees be covered and bosoms bared.

In the day time quite the reverse procedure is essential or we risk the stigma of being considered eccentric, and from a North American viewpoint it's all perfectly reasonable.

Many attend church in obedience to the laws of society; these are the same upright citizens whose preconscious delights in getting away with a padded expense account under-estimated income tax returns, and perhaps the odd pen or "sample" picked up from the office, self-justified by the rationalization, "But everybody does these things, it's not stealing."

Just what price is put on integrity? The thought of robbing a bank would shock these good people, yet many squander their inner power on a dime and quarter basis.

Is it worth it? Though such petty thefts are usually beyond the reach of social law, and difficult to detect, not too many years ago the theft of a potato could be punished with years of vile imprisonment, and the price of a loaf of bread stolen for hungry children was one's life.

Why barter honour for ten cents, a dollar, or ten dollars? Why delight the predatory preconscious? Sure you can beat the law of society, but only at the expense of spirit, for it is written, "Blessed are the undefiled who walk in the way of the Lord."

Other social churchgoers dress for worship in a manner calculated to attract attention to their animal charms, and are more aware of what is going on around them, than interested in humbly searching out their own deficiencies.

Some people envy, covet, bear malice, break spiritual law even as they make a pretence of friendship, bowing not to Deity, but to society.

Socially ordained marriages are designed to get a young couple off on the wrong footing right from the start. Glamour is the watch-word. Full concern is given to such matters as the bride's trousseau, the shower gifts, the honeymoon trip, the "right" guests, the menu, the toasts, etc.; suitable qualifications for the bridegroom include his earnings, his physical assets, and his stature in the community.

These are the matters that command paramount parental attention.

The same parents will gush out sympathy and advice when the children come running home for consolation if the marital road gets a little rough.

The parents may later shake their heads sadly and say, "We gave them such a lovely wedding."

Preparation for successful wedlock begins on a child's birthday and continues throughout its pre-marital education. The recipe for all adult happiness is the same.

While the "civilized" would never think of spitting in their living rooms, snide, mean little remarks are permitted to flow freely. Better they spat, better when thinking of the words "beautiful" and "immaculate" it conjured up a picture of the undefiled who walk in the paths of righteousness, spotless and without blemish, rather than raiment and materialism.

There is, however, nothing wrong with these if allowed to settle into their rightful place of pleasant trimmings rather than essentials.

Examine the laws of our society, fleeting, and often amusing, to be both made and broken by man. When in Rome, it would seem most advisable to do as the Romans do as long as Nature and Spirit are not offended.

2. Mankind delights in pitting his wits against the law of nature, trying to solve some of her secrets and probe her mysteries. Nothing exalts the animal ego more than an apparent conquest of his fleshy creator.

In actual fact, nature is winning the battle of wits hands down in her own implacable fashion. Nature may be somewhat ponderous in method, but she is nevertheless exceedingly sure.

For faster than science can conquer established diseases, evolution, by the same process of forcing species up the scale of progress that she has always used, can produce more tenacious germicidal hazards than any yet encountered. Science itself is forcing the creation of new diseases for the next generation of scientists to cope with.

Much in the same way that the fly develops a resistance to DDT, the defeat of one natural enemy produces a more powerful specimen.

Even if man were able to overcome nature's basic law, his very victory would eventually result in the extinction of our species as a result of population explosion.

For the law of nature is the law of birth and death; the fact that each species must live off another, with survival of the fittest for improvement of each species. From nature's point of view, man is a freely expendable commodity, to propagate and improve the strain, then return to the earth to supply nourishment for the millions of lesser life forms pushing their way up the ladder of progress. The demand is simple.

On this continent, should a child fail to wash its hands before meals or should he leave the table without a polite "Excuse me," parental censure is unfailing.

"This child is no rabble, he's getting a proper upbringing."

Is an unkind gesture, a little white lie treated with the same severity? Are jealousy, covetousness, and thoughtlessness nipped in the bud? Or do the parents expend every effort to shower junior with every little material thing his heart desires? Pander to his whims? Boost his Ego?

"Give him a chance," says Dad. "He's only young yet, he'll grow out of it!" By what miracle, do you suppose?

He's never too young to watch television, never too young to brush his teeth, lap up tales of glorified rogues in comic books or witness violence on film -- just too young to learn the basic rudiments of maturity.

What chance does such a child stand in the future, battling these odds presented by doting but misguided parents?

In some vague way, any blame for mistakes will fall on modern-day society without any concrete effort being made to get to the root of the trouble, though, even now, armies of "specialists" are being trained to cope with the outcome of parental errors which will later emerge as a new crop of juvenile delinquents. False values are our problem.

We hail the nation's top athletes, the most photogenic females, and outstanding academic achievement. Are these the ideal standards of a country's pride?

We worship high intelligence -- a fortunate mixture of chromosomes; now pause to consider praise-worthiness in terms of stability and insight. Let's have prizes for integrity, generosity, service to fellows. Worship all that is virtuous and clean, see beauty as a glow shining through the flesh.

The whole story is put in a nutshell in the song "On Ilkley Moor 'Thout' At." "If thou goest out on Ilkley Moor without a hat, you'll catch your death of cold, then worms will come and eat thee up, then ducks will come and eat up t'worms, then man shall come and eat up t'ducks, and so he will have eaten thee."

Even the lowly caterpillar supports forms of life far smaller than itself. No creature is able to escape the inevitable law of supporting other life forms, though many are microscopic. If the chain were ever broken the endless repercussions would result in the total extinction of many species.

Science can struggle all it may to tip the scales in favour of our species, but the fine balance of nature will only reverse the process in her own inexplicable manner.

Mankind, therefore, is wise to give full attention to nature's warnings, to heed her commands as best he can. Evolution formed our animal frame and will countenance no disregard of her supremity without punishment.

Harmonious coexistence is our best hope for wellbeing. In lands where starvation is no problem, worry, and over-indulgence in food, tobacco, alcohol, and drugs, can constitute as grave a natural offense as that committed by the unfortunates who lack proper nourishment, clothing, and shelter, and are thus forced to violate natural law.

For seventy years or thereabout nature must collect her dues from humanity while we use her structures as our fleshly homes; it's a fair enough bargain, comparable, say, to the landlord coming around to collect the rent -- cooperate.

Jesus said "Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's" Good health is a major material asset; a primary physical requirement.

Obey the law of nature rather than try to circumvent her decrees by artifice and pills.

The dinosaur should stand as a good example for humanity. Its extinction came about through its inability to advance mentally, resulting in bulk without foresight, because life in its day was to its liking. It didn't need to think.

Man's life on the other hand, was tough -- he was forced to think.

Today, only one person in five is mentally up to par (that is, using four and one-half percent to six percent of total capacity). The others are using but two percent of their thinking equipment. Absorption of the knowledge of others is not enough, but we are satisfied to let a few do the thinking for the masses and even delegating the deeper problems to machines. Conformity is the ideal; financial security is, too often, the objective.

Mechanical devices and an excess of entertainment are but two of the factors contributing to the degeneration of the mind. Life is satisfying, comfortable, and to our liking. No longer is there any need to wrack our brains for survival. Probably the dinosaur mused thus in its heyday -- but nature had other ideas.

Everyone understands the importance of an adequate supply of vitamins and minerals, the correct proportions of sleep, exercise, and caloric intake, which is all highly commendable. Rest, relaxation, pleasure, amusement, satiation are, in their proper perspective, again very reasonable. But how much time is spent in plain old-fashioned contemplation? Wonder, for instance, on whether or not nature might have other ideas for our species -- it's an interesting thought!

Ponder the pomp and glory of Nineveh, the Roman Empire, ancient Egypt, and, more recently, the reign of the Czars -- thinking was hardly among the leaders' more popular pastimes. Rather they wallowed in self-satiation and fleshly comfort, totally disregarding the lessons history had to teach because they were utterly blinded by ego and the misconception that they were smarter than their predecessors -- again, it's an interesting thought!

Never lose sight of the fact that our residence on this earth is of the most temporary duration.

Accepting this fact, shall parents still spend sleepless nights worrying over junior's poor school report? Tremble with anxiety if he fails to rate high on society's popularity poll?

Guard against each little sniffle and cavity, and fret and fume over mundane matters while disregarding the very essence of their child; his spirit?

Science is helpless in the long run; all flesh is subject to the law of decay and death. Without His wisdom we will perish as individuals, as nations, and as a species.

Why reach out for the moon? It's a handy launching pad for widespread destruction of fellow Earthlings, when already there is more than enough power right on our own globe for total annihilation. A fraction of the cost of armament could bring an end to malnutrition. How can any sane person reason otherwise?

Let's see mankind as he really is; not the all-conquering hero of our imagination, but rather a pathetic little figure shaking his tiny fist at the very force which discards his species by the millions and billions on the altar of progress. Such is the law of nature.

3. The Law of the Universe, His law, was in effect before the Earth came into being and will remain in effect for all time.

The law of the Universe is the law of Spirit, and operates in all the words throughout the length and breadth of His dominion in which are now domiciled spiritual creatures, as well as that portion of the universe which contains no world other than that of spirit.

Planets are like so many pebbles on the beach of the sea shore of Infinity.

God's power is such that He can at will, govern all things animate and inanimate, and He would have me tell you now that there is no other earth like this earth and no other creatures comparable to the people on earth for sheer stubbornness and barbarism.

Repeatedly has He sent messengers to this planet, guided by His Archangels, to place before mankind such knowledge of conduct as was deemed necessary to put him on the road, not only to Eternity, but to simple compatibility one with the other, and to direct humanity into a life of selfless enjoyment with sufficient material requirements for all.

Instead of extracting the pure wisdom from His messages, man-kind has chosen to squabble over trifles. Regarding the writings in the Bible, people ask, who wrote the various books? When were they written? Are they fact or fiction? Are sections mis-interpreted? Who is right? Who is wrong?

Everyone who bickers over such banalities is wrong.

What do any of these petty arguments mean today except that man still lacks faith, still demands continuous proof of His Being, refuses to admit the narrowness of his conception of Deity. "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." He lives; how He lives!

Regardless of what name He is known to them by, the people, all the people on Earth today, can be placed into two categories: those who will accept the law of spirit, and thus rise to untold heights of inner power; and the disobedient, who will steadily degenerate to near animal state.

For the lukewarm there is nothing.

Man was taken from the beasts of the jungle and given a spark of the divine. God so willed it. His Law of conduct is the universal law of love. "Love each other even as I love you My children."

"I tell you also now, that I bear with you as I do for no other reason than the spirit within each of you is as a firstborn."

His love is even as that of the patient and wise earthly father who guides his children to maturity, loving them not for their perfections but because they are His.

Spiritual law is inevitable; it can be violated by none, either on this planet or on any other.

No spiritual being is too highborn or too lowly to circumvent universal judgement, nor too mentally superior or inferior to be excused. Whether the path is strewn with thorns or roses is a matter of individual choice, but each shall walk the path. There are many paths, all leading to the same summit of truth whether based on the teachings of Christ, Buddha, Lao-tse, Confucius, or any of the many others, for all serve one Master. There is but one Supreme Being, and the law of spirit recognizes the equality and individual responsibility of each spiritual child of the Father.

The summit of truth is atonement, at-one-ment in thought with God.

In times of need, prophets have been given to all nations to plead for guidance. In all human history there has never been a greater need than now, when, having acquired the means of his own destruction, mankind's questions have assumed fearful proportions.

The Father does not fail to keep His promises to man even though these times of tribulation are brought about simply because man fails to keep his promises to The Father. A thousand times has He told us; worship not the work of your own hands and minds, for these are material.

Worship truth; seek truth; love one another!

Do not profess yourselves to be wise and change the glory of an incorruptible Deity into an image of corruptible man.

Many atrocities have been committed in the name of ideology: who shall point the finger at one or the other and talk of the other's failings or of by-gone cruelties? Who shall throw the first stone? This same generation which perpetrated Belsen, Hiroshima, apartheid, and Little Rock? And the lukewarm, those who stand silently by and watch, shall these be called innocent?

Even His "Christian leaders" who advocate easier divorce laws: is this the conclusion reached by prayerful intercession? Is this trust and obedience? Relieving the immediate problems of animal selfish-ness and error to create endless repercussions for future generations, future families that may result from a further series of "legal" unions? Who will judge the guilty and the innocent? Who can judge by perfect standards, save Judgement? God, who has all the answers, all the solutions.

Is not the command, "Go thou into all the world and teach salvation, teach My children to love Me, to obey My Law?

Can the advocacy of divorce be said to constitute a part of Christian leadership? Is it not written that "He left the ninety and nine which were in the fold and went after the sheep that had strayed. The Good shepherd tends his flock?

Think you that there is a word spoken or a thought conceived in the animal mind of which Spirit is not fully aware? He is omnipresent.

Self-deception, mass-deception, national deception, denominational deception, all are futile. God is not deceived.

The vilest specimen of humanity, the most animal-dominated man ever born, has within him the spark of divinity. Dig for it; nourish this spark; give of yourself to this man, and if he smites you on the left cheek offer him the right.

This man is your fallen brother; your lost sheep. This man is your path to a greater understanding of love; love through service.

Don't preach to him and then return to your righteous home thinking your duty is done. This comes into the same category as praying for the hungry before you sit down to supper.

Pitch in with all you've got. Soil your hands, wrack your muscles, exercise your inner power and give it a chance to expand.

Birth control and abortion are in no way connected with the law of spirit except where selfish motives are involved. I reiterate this statement because of the untold suffering caused in the name of God in this respect.

Christian ministry initially requires rededication and personal purification; recognition of animal fallibility, and constant communion with Spirit and less with society, earnest endeavour, vigorous application, as well as submission of self-will to His Will.

Closer examination of Jesus Christ, our example, is necessary. If Jesus didn't say it or do it, then don't let twentieth-century education twist His Word.

Man is so far below the Son of God in power of perception that the impertinence of trying to "improve" on His teaching is conceit surpassing all others. Don't be blindfolded by materialism.

The Law of Spirit supersedes the laws of society and nature; it will alter not one jot in all eternity, and any apparent alteration is simply that man's mentality has been slowly educated to receive the next step in spiritual advancement, the final step.

The responsibility of shepherding others is not to be under-taken lightly, nor with the thought of serving any other than the Master. "Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve." The minister cannot serve God and Mammon.

History is for the historians. Social workers can take care of social problems. Recreational directors, too, have their place.

Ministering to the spiritual needs of His children is a sacred and very special duty, never to be undertaken alone, but undertaken in at-one-ment with His will.

His expressed wish is that the language used herein be so straightforward and simple that none can fail to understand. If there are any doubts the responsibility for clarification lies with the reader. I am, as always, your servant and His servant. "He that hath ears let him hear."

Let his mind digest for itself, not have the Word handed down by word of mouth, its precious meaning possibly clouded by mis-interpretation or unclear thinking. The meaning is too glorious. No longer are we to be castaways on a sea of doubt. Man is not animal to be consumed by nature. God's spirit is within him, humanity's link with eternity secure. The whole universe is ruled by Love, Wisdom, and Truth.

In former centuries, the predatory animal intellect of leaders has taken the Word and fashioned it to suit their own requirements. They have used Truth for self-glorification and have taught others to err. It would be better for these had they never been born.

Wipe the scales from your eyes. Only the Supreme One can conquer, bestow everlasting life, and light the way to peace on earth through brotherly love and service to all mankind.

Beloved, listen to the voice of spirit within. Commune with Spirit. Truth is crying out for recognition within each one of you. Go to a quiet place; pray, meditate; feel calm and peace permeate your being; experience the surge of inner power as you return His love.

No man can serve two masters. You cannot serve God and self.

Jesus said "The Father and I are One," for He had achieved the ideal state of being: Atonement: At-one-ment with Love; at-one-ment with Wisdom; at-one-ment in thought with God His Father; our Father.

This is the law of the universe. That each and every spirit shall finally be one in thought with Spirit, and with fellow brethren spirits.

For carnal man this is impossible. With God all things are possible.

Jesus explained it this way: "I will ask the Father and He shall give you another Paraclete, that he may abide with you for- ever. The holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in My name, he will teach you all things."

The Holy Ghost -- the Holy Spirit -- each man's personal fragment of the Creator, is glowing deep down inside, waiting to be released from its prison of fleshly error; longing to teach Truth, atonement, reconciliation with Deity.

Thus He has sent another messenger -- as a thief in the night, perhaps? Not to the faithful. Not to those willing and eager to be released by prayer and meditation, crying to be freed from doubt, to be introduced to Infinity. Not to those standing in daily readiness to be baptized with the Holy Ghost, whose inner power has been fed steadily with acts of kindness to which will now be added understanding, resulting in a complete break-through for spirit.

All that may be known of My Father is yours for the asking. Ask and ye shall receive.

"Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened that it cannot save; neither His ear heavy that it cannot hear:

But your iniquities have separated you between you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you, that He will not hear." (Isaiah 59: 1,2.)

What is there to fear, save dishonour, when flesh assumes its rightful secondary place in our scale of values; when our material possessions are seen as temporary trifles? Open your mental file labelled "Fear" and explode each myth with reason. Harken not to the ravings of animal leaders.

Caesar, in his day, saw himself as all-powerful. Where is Caesar today? Big Caesars, little Caesars; soon all will be dust.

How can they frighten spiritual man who listens first to the inner voice and who is one in thought with the Master?

Attune your will to the law of the universe and all else will fall into place without error or effort.
