CHAPTER 4 : Developing The Inner Power
If eternal life was reserved for a small minority of seekers (those who attained superior results in terms of love and service to their fellows); if Deity said "We have room in Heaven for just the top spiritual one percent of Earthlings, and the rest must die with the body," almost overnight we would see pseudo-saints springing up like mushrooms in damp grass.

Anyone with less generosity, less love or wisdom, might be tempted to make Infinity into an exclusive-type club. This is something mankind could well comprehend, but Omnipotence, to the animal, is an enigma.

In attempting to understand the love that surpasseth all other, obviously man's only path of enlightenment must come to the fleshly mind through its one link with Omniscience, the spiritual mind. The English language, aye, all earthly languages, are totally inadequate to express these ideas.

Freeing the flow of power from the spiritual mind is a vital necessity in achieving knowledge. The degree and speed of success will depend on the willingness of the pupil, and the amount of resistance self-interest will put forward.

Though seemingly perverse, in the broad sense, self-interest can best be served by subjugating the animal will to the Will of God. His foresight so far surpasses man's narrow view, it's rather like the parent telling a child who likes green apples that too many will give it a tummy ache.

"First, man must be brought to the realization that his animal instincts have led him astray long enough, that the time has come for a sincere reappraisal of values.

Make no mistake, the animal we cherish is a powerful brute and will not relinquish its stranglehold on spirit without a battle. It will use every means at its disposal to rearrange truth to suit itself.

Liken the inner power to the wattage in an electric light bulb, blocked in on all sides with "bricks" of error, its light dimly shining through the cracks between the bricks.

Prayer to the Sovereign of Spirits may be likened to a request to the Powerhouse for additional voltage which is never refused, and permits the light to shine with greater brightness through the cracks.

Confession brings self-recognition, a breaking down of the wall of misassociation which separates man from Truth, and allows even more of the inner light to shine through.

Meditation is the finishing process, both increasing the spiritual wattage and cleaning out any remaining debris in the carnal mind.

These steps are essential to success: prayer comes first.

1: PRAYER

To pray is to ask with earnestness and zeal. To address the Spiritual Creator with adoration, supplication, admitting one's weakness, inadequacy, and selfishness. To give thanks, to beg, or petition.

No human father can begin to love his children as does our Heavenly Father. He is well aware of our problems, our frailty; to Him the mind is as an open book. Become as a little child, for this Father-child attitude is the only one to use in prayer. Have no doubts that He will hear, though when spirit communicates with Spirit words are unnecessary. Thought waves are best. Man's problem is to find the right wave length for successful transmission. The cynical, the arrogant, talk only to themselves and by such will be heard.

Then, being Truth, there can be no other communication between mortal man and Truth. Neither can there be an intermediary. A spirit can speak only for itself, sincerely, from the depth of its being.

Jesus showed us the way:

"Our Father, ever present Spirit of Love beyond our mortal vision, Holy One, help us to serve thee on Earth, even as our brethren spirits in heaven are joyfully obedient.

Give us this day food for thought; some understanding of thy love.

Forgive our erroneous thoughts, our inability to cope with the animal lusts within. Help us to understand others likewise, who, in ignorance trespass against us, and against Thy Universal Law.

Deliver us from ego and cynicism that blind us to Thy Glory.

For thine is the eternal kingdom -- all-powerful, all-glorious, wherein we shall dwell in love and joy, one with another, for all Infinity. Amen.

Asking for, or thanking Him for the food we eat or the clothes we wear is futile. Material goods are an animal requirement, acquired by physical effort, service to Caesar, and are not given by God more to one and less to another.

Spiritual blessings, increased insight, wisdom, peace, and joy help to overcome weakness of the flesh, both mental and physical; these are His gifts.

Prayer as a method of confession is wrong if one hopes that the confessed wrong will thereby be cancelled. Prayer for strength to overcome error, if sincere, will surely be granted. Pray for guidance; for understanding; for patience.

The common practice of placing the body in a traditional attitude and rambling meaningless words or chants is little more than mockery if the heart does not reflect the words of the lips, and serves only to boost the ego into a feeling of self-righteousness -- it is prattle rather than prayer, and again, having prayed for Grace, and having received such Grace, unless one is prepared to put this new-found strength into action for a constructive purpose, the praying has been nothing but a complete waste of time. Action must follow prayer.

2: CONFESSION - Deliver us from Ourselves.

Having prayed for increased insight, and having a sincere desire to understand both ourselves and our spiritual Creator, the next step is to break down the wall of error separating the animal and spirit.

We have seen how the young child is born with an active conscious and budding preconscious and spiritual minds, and how, through its life daily associations are fed to the preconscious "storehouse" mind, until the child emerges, a product of its environment, into adulthood with likes and dislikes ranging from extreme "like" all the way down the scale to hatred. Many of these drawers of the mind are erroneously tabulated and Truth hidden until such time as the fleshy mind is cast off and the full realization of truth floods in. The remorse of beholding one's actions on Earth in the light of knowledge is "Hell". Thus, heaven is what you make it.

Since giving the spirit to man, The Master has sent a continuous stream of guidance to every part of the globe when it was necessary. Moses, Buddha, Ramakrisha, Zen, Lao-tse, Confucius, the Bab, Luther, Karl Marx, Mary Baker Eddy -- the list is too long to complete at this time, but in each and every case, the pre-conscious mind of the audience has selected those passages which appeal to it and discarded the more "difficult" rules which required self denial.

While the spiritual mind can only originate virtuous thoughts and emotions of love, all of which it can pass directly to the conscious mind for action, the conscious mind, having no power of thought, cannot differentiate between these spiritual thoughts and those received from the preconscious mind; after taking action, the conscious mind returns the signal "action completed" to the preconscious mind for analysis and filing.

This means that a message received by the conscious from the spiritual mind will have to pass through the animal mind before completing the circuit back to its originator, the spiritual mind. The carnal mind will take the message returning to the spiritual mind, glorify itself as the originator, embellish the thought and twist it beyond all recognition in trying to analyze and understand the message, in its desire to retain its own power over physical matter.

"This carnal mind is quite capable of taking the smallest incident and enlarging upon it, preening itself, and building up the most wonderful pictures of its own "goodness and cleverness." This is the demon man must fight; the Satan within himself. For this reason, he must become as little child again, pure in thought, acknowledging that without spirit, which belongs to The Master, and is only loaned to the animal, he is incapable of distinguishing between right and wrong.

Displacing Wrong Thoughts.

To clear out the filing cabinets of the predatory preconscious then, is the second step in attempting to rid the animal of its false conceptions of itself, to "spring clean" the attic, as it were, to rectify some of the misassociations; hence confession.

The hoarded, intricately woven network of cross-references, and subtleties are the most difficult to admit, for it is these secrets that bolster the perverted version of pride that the animal likes to associate with itself.

When the error is committed, the entire origin of this "sinful" thought is in the physical mind and usually starts with a small thought associated as "like" in the preconscious; then it is added to and embellished beyond any recognition, and all this probably before the thought is put into the conscious mind for action.

For instance, a young lad might be passing an apple orchard and, seeing some nice red apples, thinks; "Mother always used to have a bowl of red apples on the dining room table, only I remember she kept them just for when company came. Sometimes Grandpa and Grandma would visit and they were so jolly, after a while Mother would pass around the apples; the skins cracked when we first bit into them, and Grandpa would tell about the adventures he had during the war." All this reminiscing before he hopped over the fence and took an apple.

Thus schemes are mulled over in the adult mind before being put into the conscious mind for action. All previous comparisons are brought into play, and previous results of similar actions are weighed in the balance.

This scheming is the part the preconscious mind enjoys; the action itself is not enjoyed so much because the action is carried out by the conscious mind. (For instance, thinking of Mother's apple pie makes your mouth water.)

Therefore, in confession, though willingly admitting the act, the preconscious will do its utmost to retain the part of the sin that provided the most satisfaction; the planning of the act, the real reason for the act.

To confess the act, then, is not in itself sufficient to rid the mind of the error, because the preconscious will then feel very satisfied and contented with itself for having made the confession, although the root of the error might remain as strong as ever in the mental filing cabinets, much as a woman might clean up the attic by sweeping all the dirt out of sight under the bed. This would not get rid of the dirt.

For animal man to say "I have sinned in that I stole," has brought open the drawer of the filing cabinet but has not removed the file for inspection of the particular enjoyment and related associations formed around this particular "sin."

If the confession is "I stole respect due Mrs. Doe by saying a mean thing about her," when the preconscious machinations are uncovered, it might turn out that at a high school dance some thirty years previously Mrs. Doe had once attracted the penitent's beau and thus dented her ego.

Having dug down over the years and uncovered this fact the confessor would say, "How silly I have been all these years, to nurse this resentment!" and at last find herself free of the hidden misassociation.

Hidden resentment of a person, jealously, fear that another might possess a quality that oneself lacks, is exactly the same problem we run into between our predatory and sublime minds. Knowing that the qualities of spirit so far surpass our animal mentally, the animal would build up its own ego in the hope of stealing sufficient knowledge to make a favourable comparison.

Realizing the infinite virtue of the Master, the carnal tries to copy without realizing what spirit is doing. This false concept of ourselves is the idol we set up in His image, the wall we build up between the animal and spiritual minds, which, by the time we have reached adulthood, will take a lifetime of effort to correct in each and every one.

Therefore, in repentance, try to get to the root of the sin. No self-justification is required. Confess the sin uppermost in the thoughts; the delight it gave. Did it cater to lust? Sensationalism? Status-building? Find the reason for the pleasure it gave, then the reason behind the reason, the deep hidden association and, as one digs down and down, so the full realization of the error will be revealed, and the light of truth will dawn, as though Truth had been imprisoned by thick walls of ignorance and error.

Confession is not for the good of the spirit. In each and every one of us the spirit is pure and perfect even as its Father is perfect.

Confession is not to tell The Master about the mistakes we have made; He knows all.

Confession is to reveal the individual to himself as a carnal creature, to bring into the conscious mind the cherished secrets of the preconscious, to find that, being shared, they are no longer worth hoarding but can be seen for what they are; junk in the attic; misassociated ideas; immaturity; and downright animal stupidity, long overdue for disposal.

Sharing these errors relieves the tension they cause, whether we recognize this tension or not. (In admitting her two dollar theft. Mrs. Smith could relieve herself of her headaches, for she would no longer be burdened with this secret.) Seeing the mistakes we have made helps us to understand ourselves and others.

Just opening the drawers of the filing cabinet is not enough; each file must be taken out and thoroughly examined in the light of truth, analyzed, then fully shared in consultation to negate the "secret" aspect of the error, making it easy to discard as another "brick" in the wall between the animal and spiritual minds.

Loosen one brick -- then loosen another, and another -- and continue until the faint glimmering of light can shine through. Then take a look around your "attic." See the awful mess the preconscious has got itself into, and start working away with renewed vigour on another "brick."

Ask yourself: "When did self-interest first creep into my life? "How many acts of mine have been motivated by unselfishness?" "Am I fit to criticize other people?" Try making such lists for honest comparison.

Replacing Thoughts.

Having emptied many of the erroneous associations out of the preconscious, it then becomes necessary to refill these files with correct associations. This presents no problem.

Perhaps you have read the New Testament many times before without quite understanding it. Now, knowing the Author's personal love for each individual spirit, try loving the Author as His servants try to interpret His Love and Wisdom in their writings. Lift the mind to the realms of His kingdom and, even at this early stage, earthly problems will seem less pressing. The incomparable writings of St. Paul, when read in the light of understanding, supply a wealth of spiritual knowledge.

Read again the life of our Saviour, who was born in a stable and acknowledged first by the lowly shepherds, who was raised in the most humble of circumstances, owning nothing but the clothes he stood up in. Does this demonstrate a materialistic Deity?

Understand Jesus' experiences in the wilderness. His problems were identical to the problems man faces today. His carnal self demanded earthly gratifications; He refused to cater to flesh at the expense of spirit, to weaken His inner power.

Then his doubtful animal mind insidiously suggested, "Well, if you are the Son of God, prove it to me. Ask your father for a sensational demonstration; try casting yourself down from these heights to force a display of His might." In other words, for a moment or two Jesus' faith wavered. Wouldn't we all like to see flaming chariots roaring out of the heavens to bolster our faith?

Don't we all cry out to the Master, "Miracles, miracles -- Give us miracles we can see -- then we'll believe!" Even as science wants proven facts today, as certain churches try to build up an image of God as being somewhat akin to a Great Caesar; though any form of display is a form of carnal sensationalism; an attempt to boost faith by a great show of material glorification -- opposite to anything Jesus Christ taught.

Faith Requires No Proof.

This is exactly what Jesus concluded when He overcame the second temptation, but even He, perfect man, did not overcome the flesh without an inner battle, nor did he overcome the flesh without the help of His Father.

Then, finally, His ego whispered "Wouldn't it be a wonderful feeling to have men admire you, to worship at your feet, to gain earthly status? Play it my way and we can conquer all the kingdoms of the world, we can really be somebody; together, you and I could have a city that would make Rome look like a village -- think of it, Jesus -- rings on your fingers, beautiful clothes, a jewelled throne, and a crown of gold on your head if you will only let me have my way!

A voice no different from the tempter we each hear today. The weakness to which all succumb, and to which there is but one reply: "Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve."

It took Jesus forty days to recognize His weaknesses and gain the power to overcome them.

Buddha, the Enlightened One, was the son of a King; his upbringing was luxurious, and his appearance most handsome. In the sight of the world, he had everything. Then God called him, and Gautama Siddhartha went off into the forest to spend the next six years undergoing the most rigorous trials imaginable, until, under the Bo Tree, he reached the same conclusion as did Jesus Christ:

"Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God and Him only shalt thou serve."

Religion doesn't need to be brought up-to-date with the times. Rather man needs to be brought up-to-date with religious principles.

Refilling the mind thus can bring about a gradual change. Discard the unpredictable carnal thoughts for the completely honest spiritual thoughts which cannot err for their source is Truth.

The man guided by inner power can be trusted in all things, because he can distinguish between right and wrong. The carnal man, lost in the maze of his own errors, though his whole life may present a picture of right as a result of copying the spiritual thoughts, yet claiming them for his own, is the man to whom Jesus was referring when he said "I know not this man," and, "He who would be first shall be last," because this man has known no humility. This man has failed to see the Master Mind at work and has claimed its grace as his own.

At first many confessions will start with the admission, "I don't know why I did this thing." Trained guidance may be necessary to help uncover the maze of conflicting misassociations, but with each fresh self-discovery and revelation the task will become a little easier, 'till finally the student shall stand face to face with his true self, as a little child again, free of subtlety and sophistication, no longer cynical, and the next step in attaining infinity has been achieved; then he can feel for those less fortunate ones whose environment has created less opportunity for spiritual development.

MEDITATION: Increasing the Illumination.

We pray that He will help us; we Confess so that we may break down the wall of terror which separates us from the light of his Truth; for guaranteed success must be followed by meditation to teach the new childlike self the wonder of the Father's love. Meditation is free communication with one's spiritual self, the self which, when fully developed, has all the power of the heavenly host behind it. It is our direct link with God.

This was the power behind Jesus who, like us, was a child of His Father temporarily imprisoned in the flesh. Christ came to demonstrate the power of spirit when the desired state of purification has been reached, including its power over death.

Mary Baker Eddy glimpsed this Truth in her meditations; that Spirit is all-powerful, that the animal man, of itself, is nothing, a delusion and shall return to dust; but each of us must prove this to his own personal satisfaction. Truth cannot be forced on anyone.

Suggestions For Meditation.

Strike a solid oak table -- it feels real; thrust it into a furnace and it becomes ashes -- even as flesh. Think of our earth, which is measurable, unpredictable; a product of evolutionary progress, even as is the human species.

Meditate upon omnipotence and man's comparative insig-nificance; and the more you pray and confess the pomposity of the animal mind, so new vistas open through the spiritual mind. One finds new horizons; new concepts of living. Rebirth is a verity.

His love knows no denomination, no creed, no social frippery, no skin colour. Oh, the ghastly error man makes when he dares to go to war against a fellow spiritual being, saying "My ideology is better than his ideology." Ye fools, cast thou the beam out of thine own eye!

All spiritual men are in His image. All animal men are in the form which evolution and environment have decreed.

Meditation will reveal these points in all clarity. To the early student, sitting quietly, letting the animal bring what thoughts it will into the conscious stream of thought whilst keeping a "spiritual eye" on the whole proceeding, the revelations will be starting. Let your thoughts run wild for a while; hear the pre-conscious throwing up every objection it can to reformation and the total and complete subjugation of the animal self-will to the Will of God; then examine these arguments in the wisdom of spiritual understanding.

Meditation is a means of reaching the darkest and deepest recesses of the carnal thought process and purifying these thoughts.

Later, when the mind is more clear, Spirit will use these periods to fill the mind with its own sweet knowledge of Truth.

Another excellent method of contemplation is to wander back in time through the memories of childhood, reliving each episode in an attempt to see how early impressions were formed and how misassociations started. Then go on through life, through youth; consider the personal errors and acceptance of erroneous teachings -- excessive patriotism, racist propaganda, and the narrow-minded standards set. Bring each thought into the mind separately and slowly, one by one examine them impartially; discard the sentimentalistic idealism, reject discrimination and, in under-standing how these errors were formulated, understand others who are still bound by ignorance.

Meditation is a perfect form of relaxation. If the day has gone poorly, think what could have been done to improve matters; how, with extra effort on your part, extra courtesy, extra calmness, you could have helped another. Forgive others their errors; try to help them.

Learn to nourish your inner power; learn to know the Master, for in knowing Him you cannot help but love Him. If this is too hard at first, learn love of Truth and dedicate your life to learning.

If, when the thoughts first start to flow they seem too awful to contemplate, don't push them back and try to pretend they don't exist; let each one float across the scene, gently and analytically see them for what they are. You might envision them as scum floating to the surface; sift out the dirt. Replace them with unbiased thoughts, purity, and truth in the same quiet methodical manner, not punishing yourself, merely understanding.

If pride has been a major problem, try going out and scrubbing someone's floor. Perhaps sloth is your downfall; get busy correcting it. Or if you have considered your time too valuable to share, then sacrifice a portion of this for the benefit of humanity. Meditation will teach you these things.

Use logic. Consider an experiment with laboratory rats; feed one pregnant rat a balanced diet and her young will be fine and healthy. Nature's law has been observed. Half starve another pregnant rat and the progeny will be puny. Prove that nature and God, matter and Spirit, are opposed. God loves us all equally. If God controlled nature, would children die of starvation? Would many worthy couples go childless when others, less spiritually suited for parenthood are "Blessed abundantly?" No blessing; no mystery -- it is simply that in some way the former, are unable to comply with evolution's demands, while the latter couple conform to the law of nature.

Unharnessed, it is our own natural instincts that must be conquered. One is impelled to hit back when another strikes out at him, although spirit demands that he turn the other cheek.

Our Father, in His Wisdom, knows the weakness of our animal natures, our inability to understand His Law, but it is written (Romans 1: 18-25):

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the Truth in unrighteousness; because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewn it unto them.

For the invisible things of Him, from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even to His eternal power and Godhead; so they are without excuse.

Because that, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

Professing themselves to be wise they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man.

Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanliness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves; who changed the Truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever.

Soul-destroying animal errors, if pursued, can reach a point beyond which no human being dare go.

Knowing the Truth, if a man says: "I choose to serve Self; I will seek material rewards," then his reward shall be material and finite. Or if a man say: "I will totally ignore the material and seek only spiritual benefits," then likewise his reward shall be spiritual and infinite.

But the wise man will say, "I will learn to keep my two selves in harmony one with the other; I will violate neither the law of nature nor the universal law," his reward shall be twofold, rich in blessings both earthly and eternal.

St. Paul presents such a perfect picture of the facts that any interpretation is superfluous. To the Jews, in the beginning, God made a covenant of the sign of circumcision, the sign of His law. They that were without the Law were judged outside the Law, the Just Master realizing that they did not comprehend.

Then Jesus Christ, through Paul, showed the Gentiles how they also came within the law as His word reached them. In Corinthians he explains "For when all men are within the law so shall they be judged."

This book is the fulfilling of The Master's promise; for His Earthly Kingdom approaches when all men shall walk the earth knowing His law, flesh and spirit at last in harmony. This is His final testament, and now, knowing His eternal law, so shall ye be judged.

Common Errors And Pitfalls.

Dogma is the animal mind's attempt to embellish that which needs no glorification. That which is instigated by man is of the mind of man. Thou shalt love the Lord thy God and thy neighbour as thyself, this is the Father's only commandment and the individual spirit in each one knows the Father's commandment. Only the deepest and most inner self of the reader can urge him to tread the path of enlightenment, to develop the inner power.

Truth will come from within, not from without; virtue, purity, and the ability to distinguish between right and wrong is not dictated, nor can it be learned by any material or intellectual study. Each individual child of spirit knows these things for itself, cries out to tell the animal of His love, His power, and the glory of His universal kingdom.

Harken no more to the vain babblings of men. Harken to the still small voice of spirit within. Plead for insight, for to be aware of the world of spirit and to continue to defy its precepts can result only in eternal oblivion. Obedience brings human dignity and the fearless flame of certain knowledge of immortality to the believer, the inner power.

Shudder when nature's rages are referred to in insurance policies as "Acts of God" -- what blasphemy! Lightning, flood, hail, drought, hurricanes, earthquakes, horrible disasters, all explainable by men, are capable of analysis. Where does love and wisdom show itself in these rampages? Where is the evidence of Infinite Mind at work? If God commanded nature, every sunday school picnic would be bathed in sunshine, raindrops would elect to drop only on the unrighteous, and all the freezing weather would be sent to countries where people worshipped idols.

Tremble at the error of insinuating that material goods are worthy offerings before His Majesty who wants only our love. Jesus Christ made this quite clear when he was asked by the rich man, "What shall I do to enter the Kingdom of Heaven?"

His answer was: Sell all thy worldly goods to feed the poor.

How do you think He feels on witnessing display and ceremony, the great show of adoration on the outside, when His beloved little spiritual-animal children, with hunger gnawing at their bellies, cry themselves to sleep at night trying to see how God can be Love when they still suffer, and their parents die daily in conflict.

What possible justification can any Christian find for these facts?

Material accumulations are the results of fleshy effort and fortune.

"Woe unto you ye hypocrites," said Jesus. Mock Him not with psalms and lip service. Pray not that He should help those in need and then, feeling self-righteous, sit down to a full meal. Try fasting for a few days to see what hunger is like. Do not insult Him with denominational observances on set days of the year and spend the rest of the time selfishly. Don't thank Him for the food you eat; you are no different from any other in His eyes. Why, then, should some go hungry while others feast? Where is the logic in celebrating religious holidays with feasting and commercialism, gorging the animal and starving the spirit which is fed by the Word of God?

Oh, the anger Jesus must have felt when He over-turned the tables of the money-changers at the Temple! Measure not your love in terms of money.

No man is too poor to seek out a lost child -- perhaps one in a reformatory or a home for the retarded, or a crippled child, and take him to his heart, show him someone cares, that someone is willing to give up a little time to play a game of checkers or go for a ride, to share the fun of a stamp or coin collection, or play ball, perhaps.

No man too poor to go out of his way to give an aging person a hand of friendship -- not once a year at Christmas -- but to show consideration and love every day of the year; drop in for a chat now and again, or perhaps help with the chores.

Do it unto the least of these and thou hast done it unto Me; exercise your inner power, don't let it stagnate, for He has promised that, as much as you give, so it shall be given unto you in overflowing measure.

Let not your tithe fill you with the glow of generosity; it will profit you nought. Give even your body to be burned and you profit nothing unless the motive is Love of God, love of humanity.

Worship Him only with the material and men shall say "How good is this servant of God," and look to this man with admiration, but Spirit will say, "I know not this man, he is a stranger to Me." To those who admire their own image of self-righteousness He will say, "Man has already rewarded thee to whom thy piety was shown; stand aside, please, here comes another whom you looked upon as a coarse fellow, but who loved Me in his heart -- social graces has he none, but spiritually he needs none."

Social graces are fine; if we offend society, society will ostracize. Halitosis may be taboo in North America, but when you stand beside your spiritual brother from another cultural back-ground will your Aura be as bright and shining as his? Whether he is pagan or Christian, will you feel just a wee bit superior if he is dirty and unkempt? Beware this pitfall; you are in danger of becoming a whited sepulchre. In God's sight you may not be worthy to unloose the shoe of a spiritual being of another race or creed.

Perfect man washed the feet of His disciples; help yourselves, my white brothers and sisters. Dig down into your hearts, and in your hearts get down on your knees and wash the feet of those whose material wealth may be nought, who may be illiterate, whose preconscious associations differ from your own.

Evolution and environment decree pigmentation and education. Spirit sees only Aura. Denomination is bunk. Each is individually responsible for his conduct and will be required to answer for it.

The holier-than-thou attitude, the secular sense of superiority is a myth that must be cast aside. Error is within. None can fight your battle with your own personal 'devil'; no one but you and The Master knows how he operates. Spirit must triumph over flesh. Lay hold of every shred of ammunition you can muster, and build up the inner power. Armageddon starts today, and the enemy is Self.

Conquer Self and your only enemy is defeated. Conquer Self and the path your children tread will be abundantly blessed; all your contacts will benefit from your example, and will be happier for the experience.

Leaving your children a social and material inheritance is not enough; it can even be a hindrance, making the path to happiness so much harder for their little feet to tread. Give them a spiritual heritage, that they may inherit Eternal Life. Don't condemn them to follow the bloody path laid out by former generations.

The body will perish regardless of whether it has been taught truth or error. The body can not be punished by God, but only by nature, its creator. The spirit within must answer for the mistakes of the animal -- must carry its shameful burden with it into eternity.

Regrettably, for most twentieth century adults, it is too late to find the peace of God without much suffering, for many are steeped in guilt and sorely bound by habit, though each will get as much help as is earnestly desired to ease over the setbacks and backslidings he is surely bound to encounter.

For the future generations there is bright shining hope. Our children are to be the inheritors of God's earthly kingdom, freed by Truth.

He has heard the prayers of those whose seek Him. Their cry has been the salvation of all. Summoning His archangel Loliad, He ordained that the time was ripe to send the heavenly forces into the final battle, to write the final testament.

To this end, a female animal baby was selected to be endowed with the specialized equipment necessary for spiritual communication, a built-in antenna, you might say. A human being like others in the past, equally aware of the animal world and the universal kingdom of Spirit wherein our little globe floats like a bubble in the air, along with many others.

"Guide them, my daughter, teach that I am the Living God, ever present, even as I was before the creation of the universe, even as I ever shall be Omnipotent, Omniscient, the loving Father of My spiritual children on earth, as on all the planets in My universe."

[Chapter 5: Marriage And Motherhood]
